In panoramic position,
Zambrone is stretched out toward the Gulf of S. Eufemia. Some historical
books date the foundation around 1300, when the inhabitants of St.
Giovannello, pursued by the pirates, built a new centre in the actual position.
Other books date the
foundation of the city again around 1310 by the survivors of Aramoni,
destroyed by Roberto Di Angiņ. Right in the centre of the production of the
red onions of Tropea, Zambrone also has an important agricultural production
and sheep-breeding, with a production of all respect for the sector
floriculture , of the cereals, vegetables, olives and fruit.
It is subsequently
famous today for its "Marina" that in these last years has had a growing of
tourist interest. The coast is not uniform, it passes with extreme facility
from the white sand to the rock. Important and numerous are the bathing
establishments and the touristic structures.
