The town is active
particularly during the summer period thanks to the splendid beaches and the
panorama that offers a view on the Ionian Sea embellished by the distant
features of the mount Etna. Belonging to the area of the Bovesia and being
in a zone of elevated artistic and cultural value, Bova Marina is therefore
an area of mayor tourism interest.
During the first week of August the whole
town celebrates the Madonna of the Sea (Stella Maris), patron of Bova Marina since when a group of fishermen recovered an ancient sacred picture at the
bottom of the sea. Always in August, in Bova Marina and in the neighbouring
Greganic communes takes place the Paleariza, etno-cultural-musical festival.
The second Sunday of August (and the two antecedent days) there is the Union
Party with free concerts. The town is also known for its production of
bergamot and the presence of the Phoenician Juniper bush.
